     Clear condensation drains
     Clean condensing coils
     Examine all electrical components
     Check refrigerant

.
How often should I change my furnace filter?

Regular filter replacement ensures that your system operates at peak efficiency, and that your family
enjoys clean, circulating air that's free of dust, dirt and allergens. If your filter is not disposable, it
should be washed/cleaned every one to two months. Cheap disposable filters should be changed every
one to two months, and premium models should be changed every two to four months. As a helpful
reminder, mark all required filter changes on your calendar.
.
How can I better maintain my HVAC unit?

Besides scheduling semi-annual service visits and changing your filter regularly, there are many things
you can do to improve your HVAC efficiency and prevent costly repairs:

Utilizing black-out blinds and curtains to prevent your home from heating up during daylight
hours—especially if you’re at work during the day.
Sealing all windows and cracks to prevent cool and warm air loss.
Trimming back plants and shrubs that grow up around your exterior AC unit. Adequate
clearance improves airflow and prevents debris (like grass clippings) from clogging the unit.

Sometimes, it's nearly impossible to improve your HVAC system efficiency without replacing an
outdated unit. Ask JDS if your comfort and utility budget could benefit from new, energy-efficient
    HVAC equipment.

Why should I buy a new furnace or air conditioning unit?

Many homeowners don't realize that their old air conditioning or heating system is up to 60 percent
less efficient than today's HVAC systems. In addition, wear and tear or improper maintenance can also
contribute to reduced HVAC efficiency. JDS may recommend replacement of your system if:

    (1) your facing a costly repair and fixing the unit may not be worth it
    -or-
    (2) your utility bills are continually growing while your system becomes less and less efficient

When you replace your system, you'll enjoy premium, year-round temperature control while
saving monthly on utilities. Chances are, this attractive return on investment will have you
wondering why you didn't replace your system sooner!

How do I know what size HVAC system to purchase?

There's no cut-and-dried answer to this question, since it depends on your home's age,
construction/insulation type and size - and also upon the performance of the system you choose.

JDS’s HVAC experts will evaluate your cooling and heating needs and conduct an energy analysis to
determine which system will suit your needs - and your budget. Rest assured that we'll recommend a
high-quality system that will improve your comfort for years to come, without costly maintenance.

What is an Energy Star® rating?

You may have noticed the Energy Star symbol on some of your appliances-including your furnace or
AC unit. HVAC systems that have the Energy Star symbol meet stringent energy efficiency guidelines
set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, and are also
designed to be more eco-friendly than comparable products.

Many Energy Star-rated products also qualify for tax rebates or tax incentives, so check with your
tax specialist to find out more.

Am I eligible for manufacturer rebates or federal tax credits for my new, energy-efficient HVAC system?

When you install a new, high-efficiency HVAC system, you’ll not only reduce monthly energy bills—but
you could also receive manufacturer rebates and federal tax credits. The JDS team is knowledgeable
about which products come with these valuable incentives, and will:

    (1) help you choose the best equipment for your needs
    (2) inform you of applicable programs
    (3) assist you with gathering the manufacturer certifications required to file for rebates and tax
    credits.
